Mission Statement

Happy Kids International Kindergarten and Nursery aims to synthesize the best practices from a range of educational systems, balanced by its own unique multicultural experience to create a child care and learning environment of excellence for children in the age range 18 months – 7 years. To create this environment our aims include the following:

  • Our youngest students follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) until the end of Reception (4-5 years).
  • Our students also start an inquiry-based curriculum with an international approach from the age of 3 which is being continually developed and improved in harmony with the cultural beliefs of the host country and multinational community.
  • To develop motivated well rounded and culturally rich students.
  • To focus individual care and attention on the stage of readiness of each child so that they can achieve personal success by learning through play.
  • To create an environment where qualified, experienced staff can develop themselves and continuously give their best performances in the classroom.
  • To encourage parent participation in the life of the kindergarten.

Philosophy

Our kindergarten philosophy and curriculum reflect, recognise and value the culture of our host country and our multicultural community. International education serves international understanding and cooperation providing strategies for meeting each child’s individual needs through play. We must help children to appreciate each other’s individuality, while developing their ability to work and play together. We strongly believe that teachers and parents are partners in their child’s education.

Aims

  • Develop in children the knowledge, skills, attitudes and concepts in key learning areas.
  • Provide learning experiences that are appropriate to a child’s age, learning readiness, stage of development and level of maturity.
  • Foster a warm, caring and safe learning environment that stimulates curiosity, fairness and respect for others.
  • Develop each child’s ability to effectively communicate in the language of instruction (English) while respecting the importance of the child’s home language.
  • Involve, inform and instruct parents in all aspects of their child’s education.
  • Develop more awareness about our environment and our impact on it, work together on reducing our carbon footprint in Happy Kids by switching off lights and appliances when not in use, closing running taps, collecting waste separately and by recycling materials.
  • Develop in children a sense and responsibility of caring for the less fortunate or elderly people.

Safeguarding

Happy Kids International Kindergarten and Nursery is totally committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects the same from its employees. All new staff will be subject to enhanced pre-employment clearance including identity checks, criminal background checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps in employment and two satisfactory professional references which will be verified.

  • Assistant Teacher

Reports To: Class Teacher, School Director
Position Overview:
The Assistant Teacher’s main responsibility is to support and assist the Class Teacher in effectively implementing the Happy Kids Curriculum and facilitating the students’ personal, social and emotional development. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with all staff members, parents and students and strives to ensure all interactions meet the needs of all students in line with the mission, philosophy, aims and safeguarding guidelines of the school.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Holds a valid teaching certification (or equivalent) in their teaching field – advantage
    • Proficient in oral and written English
    • Recent experience teaching Early Childhood and Reception students
    • Technology literate in Web and Google Applications

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree, or demonstration of ongoing higher education studies, professional development in areas of best practice
    • Experience with Course Management software
    • Experience with online curriculum documentation

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assists and supports the Class Teacher to implement school policies and procedures to support Happy Kids’ Mission, Philosophy, Aims and Safeguarding guidelines.

    Main Duties

    • Works in accordance with Happy Kids policies.
    • Discusses assigned duties with Class Teacher in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
    • Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment and demonstrations.
    • Presents subject matter to children under the direction and guidance of the Class Teacher using various teaching strategies.
    • Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assigned tasks and to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher(s).
    • Supervises children in classrooms, halls, during snack and lunch times, garden and gym, and on field trips.
    • Conducts demonstrations to teach such skills as sports and handicrafts.
    • Assists Class Teacher in writing assessments.
    • Observes children’s progress and records relevant data to assess progress when required by the Class Teacher.
    • Posts eyLog Learning Journeys for key children.
    • Assists in curriculum related activities as requested by the specialist.
    • Acts as substitute for the Class Teacher during short absences.
    • Undertakes supervision duties as assigned by the School Director.
    • Plans, prepares and develops various teaching aides, laminates teaching material.
    • Takes class attendance, and maintains attendance records.
    • Maintains high standards of dress and conduct, and generally sets a good example to all Happy Kids children.
    • Maintains positive relationship with parents.
