This lesson was all about pretending! The Friendly Frogs embarked on a sea adventure, pretended to be pirates, and transformed into royalty as they explored how far their imagination could take them. But pretend or imaginative play is more than just a fun way for children to entertain themselves-it is a complex process that builds skills in several different developmental areas. By pretending, imagining, dramatizing, and experimenting, children build language and communication skills, develop their capacity for empathy and cooperation, and practice creative problem-solving.
