This week, the children enjoyed a lovely planting activity as they planted sunflower seeds into small cups outdoors. After planting, we brought the cups inside, where they will be carefully monitored and nurtured until the first sprouts begin to appear. Once the seedlings are strong enough, we will replant them together in our large flower patch outside. During centre time, the children listened to the story One Little Seed by Lesley Sims. After the story, we had a group discussion about what flowers need to grow, and the children shared wonderful ideas such as sunshine, water, soil, and care. Each child carefully planted their own sunflower seed into a cup, and everyone was very excited to begin growing their flowers. Over the coming weeks, we will continue to observe and care for them together, and we look forward to seeing just how tall and beautiful our sunflowers will grow.
