As part of our Programme of Inquiry under the topic “Forms of Art,” the children engaged in a sensory art experience exploring colour mixing. The children were introduced to three different paint colours and were encouraged to name each colour and predict what might happen when the colours were mixed. Working alongside a friend, the children used the paint brushes and sponges to mix the paints, creating new colours through movement and touch. Before beginning, clear expectations were discussed, including using gentle hands, sharing space, and working cooperatively. As the colours blended, the children observed the changes and enthusiastically named the new colours they created. This experience supported the children’s understanding of art as a form of creative expression, while also promoting collaboration and inquiry-based learning.
