Children are naturally drawn to imitating animals. Immersing themselves in the animal world through movement and sound is a rich source of exploration and discovery. When we pretend to be friendly, sun-loving spiders, the Friendly Frogs can experience the world of the spider in a way that feels safe and fun. Exploring the movement of spiders and observing and imitating the movement of others in the class helps to expand the Friendly Frogs movement vocabulary. They find new ways to move, as well as the language to label those movements.
