The Cuddly Koalas are becoming more aware of the roles of steady beat and rhythm, and how these fit together in music and language. The roles may be different, but one cannot exist without the other. In this lesson, the Koalas experienced activities that introduced the layering of steady beat and repeated rhythm patterns. As the children further develop skills to recognise different types of patterns, they also acquire mathematical skills in the areas of prediction and categorisation. Understanding rhythms and patterns is also essential to learn to read and write.
