This week, the Cheeky Monkeys deepened their understanding of the chessboard by learning the correct positioning of each chess piece and exploring how they work together during a game. Through hands-on practice and guided play, they became more confident in setting up the board independently and recognising the role of each piece. Our focus then shifted to the tiny but mighty pawn. The children learned how pawns move, capture, and make their first strategic steps across the board. With plenty of practice games and fun challenges, they quickly began to understand how these small pieces play a big role in shaping the game.
