During the recent chess sessions, the Brilliant Pandas built on their knowledge of the chessboard by learning where each piece should be placed and how all the pieces interact during play. Through practical activities and supported games, they developed greater confidence in setting up the board on their own and identifying the purpose of each piece. Our learning then moved on to the smallest yet most important piece, the pawn. The children explored how pawns move, capture, and begin their journey across the board. With engaging games and enjoyable challenges, they soon discovered how these simple pieces can have a powerful impact on the outcome of a match.
