Active interaction with the vocabulary and images in a story is s great way to develop self-awareness. You probably have other examples at home. Matching up parts of the body (where’s your nose?), experimenting with facial expressions (show me your made face), and imagining different scenarios (build a sandcastle or splash in the water) are ways your child can connect a literary experience with his or her developing identity.
