The Cuddly Koalas are becoming more aware of the roles of steady beat and rhythm, and how they fit together in music and language. Their roles may be different, but one cannot exist without the other. In this lesson, the Koalas experienced activities that introduced the layering of steady beat and repeated rhythm patterns. As children further develop skills to recognize different types of patterns, they also acquire mathematical skills in the areas of prediction and categorization. Understanding rhythms and patterns are also essential skills for learning to read and write.
