It has been a busy and exciting time in the Cheeky Monkeys Class. First we had the Diwali celebrations to prepare for, and the children made a soup with carrots. The children also talked about the meaning behind Diwali with Ms Ranji and they learned about India and located it on the world map. We also prepared our own soup from a special recipe provided to us by Ms Ranji. The children helped to prepare the soup by chopping and peeling the carrots into small pieces for cooking. The Diwali celebration was a huge success and the children got to learn about Indian culture, food and music. In Maths, the children have been learning about shapes and the language involved. The children practiced making different structures using the wooden blocks such as castles, houses and even schools. Finally, we observed a short silence for Remembrance Day on November 11th, and we talked about the significance of the poppies worn on people’s chests to remember the soldiers from history.
