The Brilliant Pandas have been learning about ordinal numbers. Rather than sitting on the carpet, staring at the board or flicking through a book, we took our adventure outside for some racing. Each race consisted of different actions and movements, and we discussed who came to which place after each. The children were very good at tracking their classmate’s positions and could go much further than the traditional first, second and third place. They all encouraged one another, and there were no negative reactions from those who did not win. The fresh air and active learning programme meant the children had much fun and were engaged throughout the lesson.
